Hi, Paul. The above-quoted segment of your solution didn't survive the list.
Running the script caused an error that amounted to "can't get text item 2
of the-whole-darn-list-of-launch-services"

I copied the corresponding section out of the error message and the script
then worked... sort of.

Using your TID (or an unmangled version of it) gives the wrong result OMM,
namely "com.microsoft.explorer" - but adding a backslash & quote mark at the
beginning gives the expected result. Curious, that.

Philip Aker posted a similar sort of solution, using GREP instead of TIDs,
which is somewhat faster, so nyer-nyer-yah-boo-sucks to you. But thanks for
the input. I can't help but feel this is important stuff that I ought to
have at least a smidgin of knowledge about.
