Just set myzone to cell "temp" of current record

or set myzone to cellValue of cell "temp" of current record

if you are running the script from within FM (from a Perform AppleScript
script command).

Otherwise, you can:

tell application "FileMaker Pro" to set myzone to [cell | cellValue ] "temp"
of current record

"temp" can be replaced with an AS variable, as needed.

The value of myzone is now string (unless the cell is a container...not
applicable here.)
