Chuck-
Please be sure to include Runtime Revolution (
http://www.runrev.com) to
your methods of creating GUI AppleScripts. Revolution is a full-blown
truly cross-platform rapid GUI application development environment in its
own right. AND it can execute embedded AppleScripts, AND work with Apple
Events. With Revolution and AppleScript the GUI World is your oyster! I
do not work for Runtime, I'm just sold on it.
That's my two cents. Best of luck with your book!

Greetings All!
I'm working on a book about building applications with AppleScript.
I'm familiar with three methods for creating GUIs with AppleScript:
Dialog Director (and Dialog Studio), FaceSpan and AppleScript Studio.
I've also read that Smile can be used to create custom dialogs of more
complexity than possible with display dialog, so perhaps that's a forth
way to do it.
My question is, is there interest in structured tutorials on creating
applications for Mac OS 9 with Dialog Director and FaceSpan? Or is the
majority of interest in AppleScript Studio?
The two topics that I plan to cover that I hope will set this book
apart from other offerings is a very in depth covering of handlers and
script objects and tutorials on building full-fledged GUI applications.
Any an all input is welcome.
Thanks,
Chuck
