Paul;
You wrote that I shouldn't expect Word to un-minimize a window just
because I told it to bring the window to the front.
I disagree. Word ends up in a state where the 'frontmost' window is
invisible. Does this make any sense?
Plus, when you attempt to open a file that is already open in Word,
the window snaps to the front, even if it is minimized. The only
problem with this is that Word, unlike most other applications, has
tried to combine 'open' with 'revert', consequent you are faced with
a dialog box when you tell it to open a file that's already open (and
note that Word is so, well, stupid, that even if the open file hasn't
been modified, it still asks you).
I can't find anything in AppleScript that allows me to make a
minimized window visible. Possibly I can do this in Visual Basic, but
I don't really want to program in Visual Basic, the advantage of
using AppleScript is that I can control multiple applications without
having to learn all the different scripting languages (e.g. I could
program Acrobat in Javascript, but it's a lot more productive to do
so in AppleScript).
