Hi Mark,

Comments below.

Well, nice piece of work. Really nice piece of work. But there are some things I'd like to see added:

1. Split window capability for the script window. Same as in Project Builder. I'd _really_ like to see this.
We'll certainly consider this suggestion. One of the aims of the new script editor is to keep it simple and not get too complicated in it's usage.

2. Ability to open script in multiple windows. Same as Project Builder. I'd _really_ like this too.
This one is less likely to happen (though not impossible) as this definitely makes the UI more complex, though there are ways to mitigate the issues somewhat.

3. I'm often working with scripts that are longer than the script window. For de-bugging, the Result & Event Logs are very useful, but with the new interface, they now take up space that otherwise would show the script. Particularly as screens are wider than they are tall, please put the Result & Event Logs at the side. I think this could be done in one of two ways:

Ah, that's why there are separate Result History and Event Log History windows. They work very much like the old Result window and Event Log window, with the added benefit of being able to look back at the history of previous executions (which are contained in drawers attached to these windows). So go ahead and collapse the split bar in your script window, open the Result History window (from the Windows menu) or Event Log History window and you can position them wherever you like, and their visibility and position are remembered between launches.

3.1. Put the Result & Event Log on the side in a split view, similar to the Groups & Files pane of the main Project Builder window. Double-clicking on the divider would collapse/expand the pane. I would also like to be able to see _both_ the Results and Event log at the same time without clicking around in the window or pecking at the keyboard, so maybe have the Results and Event Log as split views within their pane, so both can be viewed. I would much prefer this option.

See the above comment.

3.2. Add the Results & Event Logs to the drawer. Make the drawer bigger. If it's the same drawer as the Description, the keystroke equivalents for toggling the drawer contents could be:
cmd-1 = Result
cmd-2 = Event Log
cmd-3 = Description (default when opening a window)

See the above comment.

4. Find forwards/backwards from selection/insertion point. To my recollection, this was mentioned earlier, and Tim had said they'd kept the Find the same as other apps. I'd argue that if it's useful, put it in and don't be held back by other apps that haven't bothered to implement a feature. Besides, finding backwards may be more useful for programming than word processing, as we might be trying to trace something back from a line that's error-ing. I say put it in.

Noted, and it's likely this will make it in.

I guess what I'm really asking for in my requests 1 thru 3 is having an GUI that's more sympathetic to working on longer scripts.
