C and perl are like chess:
One can learn the rules in 20 minutes but it takes years to become a professional.

AppleScript is English-like:
It takes years to learn to talk and by then the rules you learned as a youth have been redefined in a new politically-correct dictionary.

Applescript syntax is like English spelling:
Roughly, but not thoroughly, thought through.
