Well, if you call working with text files cooperating, which I would, then I'd say programs which work with perl are required to cooperate too.

It's even possible for a program to have support for both perl and AppleScript. If you are talking about scripting text preference files, then we've already got that.

And since perl can run AppleScript and AppleScript can run perl, we've all got the best of all possible worlds.

So please stop arguing, as it's making my head hurt.
