Hi Pete,
thanks kindly for your quick response...
Unfortunately, this script won't compile as written.
When I run it i get an error:
"expected end of line but foundclassname"
with the words "menu item" selected in line 4
Also, my System Events version is 1.1.1 ... not 1.2
And this is definitively your problem, this script won't work with
System Events 1.1.1.
I got System Events 1.2 Beta as a Pre-release Software for Apple
Developpers. But as far as I know it is not publically available yet.
Universal Access is enabled, and I also tried the script with the
"Front Window" and "Menu" Command options enabled /disabled in
Speech Preferences ( BTW,I also just dicovered that having that
Front Window preference enabled creates a weird bug/feature in which
Finder windows will not stay open for more than a second when you
open them!)
As unfortunate as it is, this is a bug in 10.2.3. I took me several
hours to find out, that at the moment it is not possible to have
universal access, speakable items and all the other options in
commands (in the PrefPane "Speech") - exept "General Speakable Items
commands" - enabled together.
I filed a bug report concerning this problem to Apple Developper but
I don't know if this was the right address. Meanwhile I found an
other address at Apple to give feedback for System X and I will send
a mail there tommorrow about this problem.
Barbara
