They're all in the same coordinate space. If you put it on the left,
it's in negative horizontal coordinates.

Vertical coordinates increase downward. Horizontal increase rightward.
(Quickdraw docs say that is because it matches printing standards.)
Correct. It's the standard in all printing industry.
All screen coordinates are positive in x (horizontal axis), and
negative in y (vertical axis) from (0,0) at top-left.
However, some applications optionally starts at (0,1) instead of (0,0).
But, and only for convenience, vertical coordinates are calculated as
positive.
