Not really. I was intrigued by the comparison of TextEdit.app with STE by Andrew Oliver, and having spent some time on it, decided to share the admittedly limited result. My text editor of choice is BBEdit, which is highly scriptable.

However we cannot totally discard Smile

I've tried Smile, but am too much in the way of using Script Editor, especially now that v 2.0 has sorted some niggles such as dragging and dropping text.
