How to use a datasource with tab view

In applescript studio (i.e. interface builder) I have a tab view that contains a table view. I am trying to attach a datasource to the table view to do easy updates of lists. I am having a difficult time with this. I have found code to simply attach a datasource to a table view in a regular window, but when I place the table view in a tab the code does not work anymore. Examples to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.
