I've just upgraded in Classic from Eudora 3.1 to 5.2. I have a lot of
scripts that I link with keyboard combos via OSA Menu to do various things
- sign messages, change personalities, move messages.
I copied the scripts to a new folder (called "Eudora 5.2", same as the app)
and recompiled the scripts to target the application.
However, they don't work. When I press the key combos, I get taken to the
original in the Finder; plus, if the key combo is something like
Shift-Apple-N, the app ignores the Shift key and does the Apple-N function.
So two things are happening.
This does not occur in other apps. Eudora is the only thing that's changed.
I do have another classic copy of Eudora on the machine, but that is
clearly named "Eudora 3.1.3".
Does Eudora 5.2 not listen to OSA Menu in Classic? There's nothing about
this on the web. Eudora's AS dictionary is just the same as in 3.1.
I do have CarbonLib 1.6 (OS9.0.4) and would note that it does the annoying
"flash one of the menu items" that Script Editor also does.
(And the answer to this problem is not "Attach the scripts to the toolbar".
I can type key combos much faster than I can grab a mouse, move it to a
point, click it, etc. I want my scripts back!)
If necessary I can downgrade, but like Eudora 5's capacity for multiple
mailbox searches.
