Everything else works fine, I've written some scripts, they compile and all that good stuff just can't use the record feature - I'm using Script Editor 1.9, suggestions?

Recording in the Finder works here, but I'm using Script Editor 2

Click the record button in the editor, switch to the Finder, do things and then click the stop button in SE. Recording only works with compliant applications, but the Finder is one of those.

The problem with recording is that the output is not in the style that most people would consider the most convenient and readable and I'd recommend you use it just as an occasional tool.
