What am I to make of the AppleScript Experiece posts? They are intriguing, but...
Klaus Umland wrote "The greatest thing about AppleScript and ASS is the ability to compile the
scripts into actual machine code," and "In less than a month, I had a fully-working, optimized Mach kernel written in AppleScript thanks to Apple's ASS."
Then I asked "What the heck does this mean? Is this actually possible? What would that even mean?"
Klaus responded, "If you don't know, I'm not gonna explain it to you, stupid."
Klaus had claimed to be working for Apple, so I replied, "That's an odd way for an Apple employee to be addressing a customer on the AppleScript mailing list -- I don't think you will be an Apple employee for very long with that kind of attitude... But anyway, if you actually know something about how to compile AppleScript to machine code (which I haven't heard of before) please share the details with the list..."
And then I never heard anything again.
Should I conclude that Klaus is just some poor soul who went off his meds? I don't know...he seemed perfectly rational. And if he's not just a raving lunatic, then apparently there are some capabilities of AppleScript that I did not know about, and I would like to know more.
Then, someone named Adrian R. Foltyn added a post to the AppleScript Experience thread that began "I hope anybody cares to know why Apple introduced AppleScript Studio in the first place. It was primarily meant for developers who wanted to develop small applications for a future Mac model called the Xpod." He then went on to spin a vision of a OS X running Palm-like supercomputer that seems like pure fantasy, but again, if it's not, I would like to know more... Is "Adrian R. Foltyn" yet another poor soul gone off his meds?
Should I just forget about these posts and add those two names to my kill file, or what?
