Hi,

Does anyone know if it is possible to run scripts from the contextual menu
under MacOSX.

i.e. Highlight a piece of text, control click, select script from the
dropdown menu, run script using selected text

If the application has a selection-object, then there's no problem. Unfortunately only Script Editor among the Apple cocoa apps has. Services>Script Editor>Run as Applescript can, I guess, be activated with GUI scripting and this does not rely on a 'get selection' apple event but just copies the selected text (it seems), so that's another option. At any rate it's always been possible to to this one way or another,
