I've done quite the same thing for Classic Mac OS versions using OneClick. In fact, this project that I'm attempting to do with GUI scripting is to replace something that I already had working in OneClick. Reading the rest of your post reminded me of the various time-saving and automation routines that I had built up over the last few years using OneClick. I really miss my OC macros, but there's just too many other advantages to using OS X to go back to OS 9. I used to boot FM in classic just for the shortcuts, but it's just too damned buggy (sigh).
