Jim,
If you're handy will shell scripting you might take a look at pppd (try
"man pppd")... I don't have a PPP connection here to test with or I'd
post you a sample script. You should be able to come up with a short
one-liner that stops or starts pppd's ppp client (at first glance I
thought it was just a ppp service, not client), and then wrap that in
an AppleScript and run it from anywhere you want.
