Yes to all three. And it works in Script Editor for me too. It
doesn't work in my AppleScript Studio app, complaining that "dad
doesn't understand the say message" (despite the fact that it compiles
fine). I figured I missed something in a setting somewhere, hence the
question to the mailing list.
The "listen for" problem seems to be an OS Level Bug, several people
have confirmed the same problem.

This works fine for me in Script Editor on 10.2.6.
OK. Who has "Enable Text to speech for Universal Access preferences"
checked (the default) in Universal Access System preferences? Who has
"Enable access for assistive devices?" checked (not default, you have
to do
it yourself) in the same prefs? Who has System Events 1.2 beta and who
doesn't?
I say "yes" to all three questions, and Script Debugger says "dad" to
me.
