I have been using MacHTTP on an 8500 running OS 9.1. I find I can run an AppleScripted CGI that way and it works - well most of the time it does - depending on what else is going on in the 8500. The CGI script can make requests to the local Finder and, in my particular case, to Eudora.

A side benefit is that I can access it using UNIXy things like curl from a Linux box as well as from OS neXt.

Applescript syntax is like English spelling:
Roughly, but not thoroughly, thought through.
