As you're no doubt aware, there are also references to the

When was that last updated? Way before the most recent version of
the ASLG,
I'm sure--and it's way out of date. Is it still in print, for that
matter?
The copyright notes from my copies suggest 1999 (ASLG), 1996 (ASAG)
and 1994
(ASFG). In spite of their age, I still find all useful from time to
time.
If I am not mistaken, it refers to AS version 1.3.2.
Irritatingly, the ASAG doesn't come out and *say* which version of
AppleScript it documents. Judging from the copyright date, it's
AppleScript 1.1.2, which matches my memory. The information it
contains is still mostly accurate as far as it goes, though of course
it doesn't document newer features.
I do however, have a question to Chris (Nebel), how would fixing
that bug break any current script? Assuming, of course, one would use
the feature of using only one letter tid.
That's the key now, isn't it. :-) The difficulty is that if you use a
longer string, it will just silently use the first letter. If someone
was relying on that in order to save themselves a "character 1 of",
then they'd get a rude surprise. On the whole, I'm inclined to ignore
that possibility, but I thought I'd mention it.
