Getting the (check) mark character of a menu item through "System Events"

Hi all!

I recently downloaded the GUI scripting beta software from Apple
(http://www.apple.com/applescript/GUI/), and have been playing around with
it.

I have successfully created scripts to select menu items and click buttons,
however, one issue currently escapes me:

--> How do I examine the check mark attribute of a menu item? <<-

I have used the "UI Element Inspector" provided by Apple (great app!), and I
see an "AXMenuItemMarkChar" attribute for menu items. I just can't figure
out how to reach this attribute through scripting.

Is this feasible at all with this beta, or is this particular part of GUI
scripting support left out from the beta version?

If the attribute is not directly accessible, is there a way to reach the
'raw' contents of the attributes array of GUI elements?

Please respond if you have information on this.

Thanks,
-Sven Ryen
