I don't see the corruption of AS, I only see extensions, and even

Some of these corruptions are logical consequences of something
happening behind the scenes - but the philosophy of AppleScript, as I
understood it, was to not let these things show through. I don't care
what's under the hood and I shouldn't (and I am advised by Apple
itself that I shouldn't).
Calm down people, both sides.
It's difficult to calm down, when you see how valid complaints are
ignored for years. I can remember a few threads on here, where AS
bugs in Apple software were discussed - and those issues were rarely
acknowledged or even fixed (and I guess in most cases bugs were
filed, when this became possible in an organized way).
The biggest problem to me seems, that only the engineers who show up
on this list feel the heat, and not Apple as a whole. Hopefully I'm
wrong, but I have the strong impression that AppleScript is still not
anything that's valued among Apple's management (and marketing!) and
therefore development is not well organized. Also I get the feeling
that the Next engineers refuse to accept that not all about the old
MacOS was bad, and this shows in some very user-unfriendly
engineering decisions.
I'm glad that the Chrises, cricket and others are on this list and
hope they understand that the sometimes harsh criticism is not aimed
at them personally. And I wish that someone at Apple were installed
to look over ALL AppleScript that is done at Apple and around, to
evangelize and promote the ideas of AS. I can't see that is happening
now. (Some people have mentioned Cal, who seems to have been just
that. That would explain why so many people really are annoyed at
what happens now: they've simply experienced better times already).
I've not had problems with any of the bugs people have mentioned.
Which makes me wonder. Maybe you are not under pressure to get
projects done in time? Or don't have to integrate multiple Apps? And
have you never suffered from the lack of in-depth and up-to-date
documentation?
Note that people on the AS Studio list were incredibly polite about
the problem.
I agree. It's easier to get a message across, when one is being
polite. But it seems rather logical to me that people get aggressive
over time, when their valid points are not taken seriously and one is
left out in the cold with the problems AS bugs cause at home...
