In case you haven't seen it, there is an interesting article by Matt
Neuburg in the current issue of TidBits discussing how you can use
Apple's Accessibility API and AppleScript to add macro key capability
(ala' "QuicKeys") to any application in OS X.

Am I missing something? I hope you're right but I see no mention of macro keys in the article. What he is saying, so far as I can see, is what we know already about the new UI scripting. I also downloaded the Prefab thing and for $25 it seems to be less useful than the UI Inspector that comes free with the new System Events, which gives a floating window with info constantly updated according to the cursor position.

The last paragraph of the article is telling -- there is no substitute for proper scriptability and control of the scripts from _within_ the application, which is _so_ much faster.

I'll believe in progress when I see the first cocoa application that has its own scripts menu with keyboard shortcuts. My money is on Nisus, but I'll believe it when I see it in a couple of weeks time, or so we are promised.
