OK, that's strange. index of message viewer A seems to be giving the

Nevertheless, my original problem is still problematic: I can't get a
message viewer (however identified) to select any imap mailboxes.
I finally was able to identify the problem in this case and it's
something we have already fixed internally. The problem is only with
setting the selected mailboxes property on a message viewer IF you have
only IMAP account AND no local mailboxes.
An icky workaround is to create a local mailbox, then it should work.
The issue with message viewer indicies was a conscious design decision
that we will look at again. The reason it was done this way was so that
running scripts wouldn't get tweaked by a user interacting with the UI.
What we will probably do is add a unique identifier, so that you save a
reference to a message viewer and target it later. If we wholesale
change to the index of the message viewer referring to the window layer
level, then there would be no way to keep a reference to the message
viewer, which IMHO is worse than what we have now. So, we didn't pick
the worst way to do it, but we didn't get around to implementing it the
best way.
