I agree with you completely concerning the hopelessly sloppy "Mail".
I'm hoping however that your frustration drags you back to Eudora to
fix/improve/expand the scripts on your website. It just seems to be
a better use of both your and our time. I'd really like (but have
been unsuccessful at creating) a synchonization routine for Eudora
and "Addressbook". If I had this, it would be one less reason to
want "Mail".
I am half way through writing such a script, which is quite a task,
and not too pleasant a one because I think I could easily develop an
aversion to AB just as strong as that I have to Mail. Thank goodness
for Script Editor 2 and Safari, which show that there is hope yet!
Some day in the future there is going to be an emsapi plug-in to do
this in both directions -- at the moment I have one that populates
Address Book from Eudora -- but another important feature has
priority at the moment and our author is making no promises.
I am in process of building a new site at
<
http://www.bd8.com/eudora/scripting/>
which you are welcome to peep at, but it changes daily and it will be
a while before it is complete. If you (or anyone) have any
suggestions or requests, I'll be happy to hear them off list, and
particularly any scripts on the old site that are broken.
In particular let me know how far you would want the EU/AB synch to
go, since both Eudora and AB allow custom fields.
