Perfect timing (almost) I was just doing a search on how to create a
folder action, or is it called an applet? I found some old tutorials
for the 9 version. And the other day I had one for the X version but
so far I haven't found it again... The question posted sounds a
little ahead of where I am.
I want a drop folder that I can drag graphics on to, off the web,
(over the folder). When I do I want it to convert the item to a pict
file (Graphic converter I assume?) and then send the result to a
specific folder. I keep a folder for contact pics and one for
business logos that I have hooked in to my contact records. So I may
even have this procedure tell my database to collect the first and
last name, or organization and title the converted picture, that.
This assumes one action folder for contact pics and one for business
pics.
How can I get started with this? Isn't there a particular line a
folder action should start with? Is this different in the latest 10
version?
Thanks
Dave
Under OS 7+ it sufficed to set the file type to "appe" to have an
applet run invisibly in the background. In OS 10 if I do that. it
runs all right but is still visible in the dock. How do I make it
faceless?
