Thanks Paul
I was wondering if it was my machine, but I was hoping to avoid doing a
reinstall (I just did one recently).

I am trying to write a script that needs to be run-only (it contains a
password I do not want everyone to see) , and should ideally be saved
as an
application. I am running OSX 10.2.6. The problem is that even the
simplest
scripts saved in this way comes up with error -1344. Has anyone else
experienced this?
When does it display this error? When you try to save the script as a
Run-Only Application, or when you subsequently try to run it? And
where are
you saving it? In Script Editor 1.9, or the new beta Script Editor
2.0, or
another editor?
The error appears when running the compiled application.
I am using 1.9 (maybe I should try 2.0 beta, but ADC does not seem to
let you download it anymore)
You should be saving a copy as run-only, of course, or you'll never be
able
to get your script's source back again.
1. Can you compile the script OK before saving? (Check Syntax?)
Yes
2. Can you save a copy of the script as a regular Application (not
run-only)?
Yes
3. Can you save a copy of the script as a run-only Application?
Yes
If the answer to any of these is No, there's something wrong. If the
answer
to Q1 is no, there's something wrong with your script - what is your
script?
If the answer to Q1 is yes, and the answer to Q2 or Q3 is No, there's
something wrong with your installation of either Script Editor or
AppleScript. Try it in Smile. Repair disk permissions. If neither of
these
helps, it's AppleScript, and you'll have to do a clean install of OS
10.2
and combo upgrade to 10.2.6.
I tried running the compiled application on a different system (10.2.5)
but got the same error.
