There's nothing equivalent to a Finder "folder action" in Entourage that

events there, if that's what Gary meant. Nor do messages have a 'previous

'previous storage' was what I was hoping for as a rapid way to do it, but I
didn't see any such reference and was fairly sure it wouldn't be
possible.[1]

Yes, it's a great solution! I thought of categories, which would get many
messages close to their original storage. But the Apply All Rules is an
even better first step...and no scripting needed.
Once again, just sharing the problem has allowed a fresh view and a more
direct solution.
Thanks Steve and Paul.
[1] Folder Actions are a great tool in the Finder and I do sort of use a
Rule-runs-AppleScript folder action set for archiving things in E2K1 to keep
from lists. Items get a category, rule moves by category when I manually
apply it. Not auto like a real FA, but it does "act" on a "folder" in that
sense. I do love Entourage and the flexibility of all kinds of individual
filing schemes.
