PreFab UI Browser 1.2 is now available for download as a free 30-day trial
version. You can purchase a registration key for $39.95 through December 31,
2003, when the price will be increased to $55. If you are a registered owner
of an earlier version of UI Browser, you are entitled to a free upgrade to
version 1.2 and your existing registration key will continue to work.
You can download version 1.2 from
http://www.prefab.com/uibrowser/. Read the
press release at

use Safari and have visited our site before, be sure to clear Safari's cache
or click Safari's reload button.)
UI Browser 1.2 is a significant upgrade. It adds many features taking
advantage of new technology in Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther), as well as new
features for users of Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar).
Important note: Apple's GUI Scripting technology was officially introduced
in Panther as a standard feature of Mac OS X. Scripts written using the GUI
Scripting technology will run on all computers equipped with Panther or
newer. (Apple successfully concluded the GUI Scripting public beta test on
Jaguar, and the beta version of the underlying GUI Scripting software for
Jaguar is no longer available. If you already have it, it will continue to
work under Jaguar.)
Here is the short list of changes in 1.2. Choose Version History from UI
Browser's Help menu for a complete list of changes.
For Panther:
Many additional user interface elements and attributes of targeted
applications are accessible, including extensive new support for text areas
and text fields.
UI elements in the target application can be highlighted on screen to help
identify them, and a preference can be set to make the highlighting throb to
draw your eye to small elements. A Help tag provides more information about
the highlighted element.
New generated AppleScript statements use new features of the official
release of GUI Scripting in Panther, such as listing, setting and performing
accessibility attributes and actions.
For Jaguar and newer:
A report can be generated and printed listing the path and all supported
actions, attributes and notifications of a selected UI element in the target
application.
UI element highlighting is supported under Jaguar without the throbbing
and Help tag features available under Panther.
The Path drawer is now a collapsible pane that can be viewed while you use
other drawers to control actions, attributes, keystrokes and notifications.
Multiple selection allows registration of several notification observers
at once.
A greatly enhanced Notification Log includes a drawer listing all
registered observers for all UI elements and allowing you to unregister them
in one place.
The user interface for setting attributes is improved.
The top-row function keys, such as F1, can now be sent as keystrokes.
Many new preference settings allow you to customize the way you use UI
Browser. For example, Help tags can be turned off.
There are numerous interface improvements and several bug fixes.
