In that case, it would nice if the completion was the whole dictionary
phrase, i.e., "bu..." completed to "button returned", otherwise, the words
are so very common, that it is not as helpful as otherwise might be expected


Have you had a look at TextExtras

I've been using in 10.2 for autocompletion and piping with SubEthaEdit
and am very happy with it [1]

it is possible to combine this autocompletion with 10.3s, but needs source code modification, see
http://www.macosxhints.com/ article.php?story=2003110116500264&query=textextras
(not that I've actually tried it yet).

[1] after modifying the sample keybindings to suit (do this before installing).
