As one who once induced AppleScript to have the system routines attempt to
launch a Think C project file as if it were an application, I am not
surprised when AppleScript manages to launch the wrong thing.

In my case, I ran a project under Think C's debugger, and addressed a tell
application "..." to it.

Later, when the project wasn't running but Think C was, I foolishly ran the
script again...it brought Think C to the front and produced an error.

Still later, when neither the project nor Think C was running, I foolishly
ran the script yet again...that's when AppleScript asked the system to
launch the project file as if it were a proper application. (That doesn't
work well.)
