"mount volume" password question

If I execute the line
mount volume "data" on server "Server" as user name "demouser" with
password ""
or
mount volume "data" on server "Server" as user name "demouser"
I get a password dialog box even though the password is blank. Can I
stop this from happening other than assigning a password to demouser?
