PreFab UI Browser 1.2 will be released in a few days, taking advantage of
many new features of GUI Scripting and the Accessibility API in Panther (Mac
OS X 10.3). It will be a free upgrade for registered users.
In the meantime, UI Browser 1.1.1 works in Panther, but with a few
restrictions. The most obvious restriction is that some of the new
Accessibility terminology will appear in UI Browser with technical names
(such as "AXMenuBarItem") rather than plain English or AppleScript names
(e.g., "menu bar item"). As a result, some of the scripts generated by UI
Browser must be edited by hand using terms from the System Events
AppleScript dictionary. UI Browser 1.2 will generate correct scripts for
Panther automatically.
The big news is that GUI Scripting is built into Panther. Scripts you write
using GUI Scripting will work on any Panther-equipped Mac without requiring
your users to download and install special software from Apple.
