Creating a line in Illustrator

This should be easy. But I've hung up on it.
I want to create a simple line in Illustrator from Point A {x,y} to
Point B {x,y}
Reading through the Scripting guide leads me to believe that I need to
script this as a path item with anchor path points but I'm stalled.
Any thoughts?
