UI Scripting Beta causes Script Editor to crash

I was trying to find out how to script the OS X
Desktop backgrounds and so I downloaded UI Scripting
Beta. This caused my Scrip Editor to crash. I followed
the uninstall instructions and still the Editor
crashes. I rebooted in single mode and did an
/sbin/fsck -y and yet Script Editor still crashes each
time a launch it or try to open any scripts in it.
Any ideas? I'm on an iBook with 10.2.6
