Not the error. Any answer that is 0 or 00 or 000 gives the result 9. The
flaw is in statement one. It should state "Write a three digit number, at
least one different from the other two, on a piece of paper. This precludes
dealing with zero as an answer.
Example: 101 - 011 = 90: strike 9, get zero; strike 0, get nine.
