Mac OS X and getting preview of image

Hi,

I would like to create an AppleScript app that as part of its functionality displays a preview of a selected image file before a user performs actions on it. I have done it before in OS 9, but am stumped on how I would even start to go about it in OS X. Any pointers or skeleton code would be appreciated.
