I think this is probably a simple question, but I can't seem to find
the answer on my own. Can I combine run and open handlers? In other
words can I make a simple application that will do one thing if a file
is dropped onto it using an on open handler and also allow a choose
file dialog to be produced if the application is double-clicked using
an on run handler? Then perform the same task as the droplet after a
file has been chosen?
Sure -- this is very useful.
I have a script that, if a folder is dropped on it, imports the image
files in the folder into iView
<
http://www.iview-multimedia.com/> and sets a bunch of user annotations
according to a
predefined template. To edit and manage the templates, you bring up the
script with a double
click rather than a drop. That brings up a menu of operations that
includes those management
functions as well as to do the processing usually done by 'open' , but
with a file dialog instead
of a drop, as well as 'quit' . The templates that are saved or loaded
in the management functions
are stored in the script as properties.
