Getting back to this email very late. All I can say is, I run scripts in 4 places: compiled apps, Script Editor, script menu, and Filemaker. I frequently see delay N take the CPU up to to 100%; not always, and I haven't identified when. But since I can use the shell script call, I don't have to figure this out.
