At 06:03p -0500 04/02/2004, Jeff Porten didst inscribe upon an electronic papyrus:

I used to have a utility that would show me the key code when I pressed any key. But it seems to be gone. The original site where I downloaded it is 404. So are the links to the two other applications claiming to do this on Version Tracker.

Does someone have a link to a current util? Or is there some virus that's searching for and destroying these applications?

Only on AOL -- they had to delete all files from the early 90s. (Well, not due to a virus, just data corruption.)

I have a very old desk accessory called "ASCII Chart+" which shows key codes.
I haven't tried it under OS X yet.
