Black Text Overprinting in Quark 5

Can anyone tell me if it's possible using Quark 5.01, Mac OS 9.2.2 and
version 2.01 of the PDF Filter to create a PDF file from Quark 5 with black
text over printing on colored backgrounds?
Here's a line from my last attemp:
set properties to {horizontal measure:points, vertical measure:points,
automatic trap amount:overprint, indeterminate trap amount:overprint,
overprint limit:1, trapping method:proportional trap}

I've set everything I can find in the Quark 5.01 Dictionary to over print
and set the trapping settings in Quark preferences as well as the colors in
the Color settings to overprint.

When I PDF the files manually without going through a script the black text
overprints fine, so I don't think it has anything to do with the Distiller
Job Options or Quark Preference settings.

Thanks,
Rich Young
