i try a simple script
mount volume "a volume" on server "tom trinko's Computer"
i run it on a desktop mac running 10.3.3 and AppleScript 1.9.3. the
remote computer is on my LAN and it too is running 10.3.3 and 1.9.3.
When i run the script I see the dialog
Looking up tom trinko's Computer 118 seconds
that counts down to 114 or 115 and disappears. Then the same dialog
comes up again with the time remaining reset to 118 seconds again.
The second dialog counts down to 114 or 115 then it too goes away and
i get a Network file permission error. File sharing is enabled for
both computers and I can mount the remote volume by using the Go menu
item in Finder.
i tried adding the user name and password using as user name and with
password and the behaviour is the same. I tried switching appleshare
on on the remote computer and the behaviour was still the same.
in the exact same setup i use
mount volume "afp://111.111.111.111/" as user name "melvin" with
password "top secret"
and it works fine.
but if i try
mount volume "a user:thepassword@afp://111.111.111.111/"
i get a network file permission error.
Is there a problem witn mount volume in 10.3.3 or am i missing
something--other than intelligence, wealth, and good looks?
thanks for any help
