Oh yes. This problem was there right back with the first OS X
implementation of Folder Actions. I used them extensively in OS 9, but
this 'loss of focus' annoyance makes them all but useless, IMO. It's
particularly problematic when a folder action is attached to a folder
that sees a lot of use. You get that loss of focus (System Events
coming to the front?) every time you open the folder, close the window,
move the window, add items, remove items... I'm disappointed to learn
that the problem still hasn't been fixed in Panther.
The triggering of Folder actions should be completely unobtrusive. It's
not. If, for example, I exported a file from Photoshop into a folder
with an action attached, I would have to wait until the folder action
had done its work and the Photoshop palettes had stopped flickering in
and out of existence before continuing to work on a Photoshop document.
Irksome and distracting.
