You may want to consider the "Synchronize folders" tool in Smile. This is based on the Satimage osax' "backup" command, which is much faster than Finder, and copies only the changed files. A menu retains your latest entered folders, you have "Compare" in addition to "Synchronize", which produces a report of the differences, you've also "Swap" which lets you instantly compare the backup to the original.
