How to get gutter width from Master Page

I've figured out how to get the gutter width from a
page:
set curr_gutter_width to gutter width of page 1
and how to set the gutter width of a page:
set gutter width to new_gutter_width
but I would like to get the gutter width and set the
gutter width of the Master Page.
Can anyone help?
