Not knowing what their bot's address was I have no idea how they subscribed. My assumption is that they didn't advertise their intent with the email address they used.
I received two very prompt replies from them but then I sent a very strongly worded email to their list admin.
I see this afternoon that Apple has stepped in and the problem is solved.
