Long time, no post, but I've still been reading the digests every time
they come out :)
Meanwhile, I've released an updated version of SuperPrivacy, which is a
cache/history/cookie/temp file cleaner (moves the temp files
to the trash and empties the trash), as always written as an
AppleScript.
The new version (5A1, aka 5.1) now adds FireFox, iTunes temp files and
Sherlock temp files to the clean-up list.
Details and scripts:

http://www.cyberpoet.net/as/as_downloads.html#SP5A1APP
This Script Now Cleans:
- AOL for OS X
- Netscape Communicator for OS X (v7.0.x, v6.x),
- MS InterNet Explorer for OS X (v 5.x)
- Apple's Safari Browser (GM and versions 1 through 1.0.3)
- FireFox (v1.0)
- iTunes Temp Files
- Sherlock Temp Files.
Special Notes:
- Both versions (application and script) prompt a trash empty at the
end of the clean-up cycle. Putting a key-press check in place
for the option key (or a dialog box) can alter this easily. The version
I am posting uses no dialog box except
as generated by errors at the OS level (such as busy files).
- Explorer and FireFox being open will generate errors at time of the
empty-trash aspect of the script. Safari won't.
- I leave this on client machines to clean up each time their system
starts-up or shuts down, to help assure their privacy
and keep various browser apps from generating corrupted files if the
browser hangs during a page-load. While this was
particularly critical in OS 9, OS X is more robust and the corrupted
file issue hasn't been a problem as far as I can tell.
- I haven't updated the user manual in eons, and probably won't.
- There is no cost affiliated with this software, but I ask that anyone
who wants to post/list it, please refer back to the originating
server rather than mirroring it on theirs.
- Older versions, including OS 9 versions, are still listed.
- This version has not been fully tested against OS 10.3.x because I'm
still running OS 10.2.8, but I haven't run into any issues
with it at client sites running 10.3
- Bookmarks & stand-alone password files are always retained. Cookies
not so. If you store your passwords in your cookies, they
will get wiped by running this (note: passwords should always be kept
separate from browsers anyway, in case you change machines
unexpectedly).
- Some scripters will enjoy the first few active lines of code as an
example of how to munge the various paths from the path to the library
:)
Cheers
