Driving Java App with Applescript, begining

I have a Java Application that I would like to drive, or at least open some of it's functionality, to AppleScript. I am not extremely familiar with AppleScript, but I figured I could somehow put the hooks into my code so it could easily be driven by a script. Can anyone point me in the right direction for this. I had looked at the Java Bridge however from what I have read that mainly deals with Java to Objective C. I am not sure the relationship between Applescript and Object C. Some direction would be really nice.

Thanks in advance,

Vince
