Not in OS 8.... :-) it doesn't say.

will try that too.

I was poking through the Cocoa documentation on Interapplication
Communication and discovered an interesting comment that *some* of the
Cocoa calls can be made to machines running CarbonLib 1.0, avalable with
OS 8.1. The Quadra was of course running OS8, no CarbonLib. I had a -916
error... a System error from the G3 trying to talk to the quadra. The
error guide table goes up to -915 :-) So I *think* I *was* hitting the
machine, but it just didn;t know what to do with the call.
Then I had the brilliant idea, that I should just run the stack from a
server I can talk to.... dum de dum.... let Applescript do what it does
well, and let the Apps do what they do well. So the Quadra mounts the 120
gig external networked drive and runs the stack over the network. I won't
need to be talking to the quadra updated to 8.1 (not necessary really,
but I only had this other idea while in the middle of doing the update) ,
I can talk to the G3 running Hypercard - from which I can get a good eppc
address.
Haven't tested it yet, but it's set up for to go. And Emmanuel, I know
that beep is a good command from the HyperCard dictionary, but trying 1+1
is a certain thing, so I'll try that next round of testing.
Thanks for all the patience from you guys. All the best of the season.
