Checked the name in the Activity Monitor. It is identical to the one I
am calling. However, when I inspect the process it says it's parent is
the Script Editor. The app in question does say it's an app when you
do a get info. Could this be an issue?
Tried compiling the script as a standalone, so that the Script Editor
was not running, but made no difference.

launch application "MyApp"
tell application "System Events" to set visible of process "MyApp" to
false
launches the app just fine, but then I get an AppleScript Error that
says "System Events got an error: NSReceiverEvaluationScriptError:
4".
What's going wrong here?
I get that error only when I try to set the process of an app that is
not running; check your spelling of the process name.
Is it possible for a process name to be different from the name of the
app on the disk? If so, that might be the problem.
